Why offices certify — and why it usually doesn't happen

Regulatory. OSHA's general industry standard, 29 CFR 1910.151(b), addresses access to adequately trained first-aid personnel when medical care is not nearby. BLS covers the CPR and AED portion of workplace emergency response; if your site also needs first-aid training, plan for that separately and assess your requirements based on location and response times.

Practical and cultural. If you have an AED in the lobby, someone needs to be confident enough to use it; an unstaffed AED is a compliance artifact, not a safety measure. And CPR certification is one of the few benefits that costs very little, applies to everyone regardless of role or seniority, and is genuinely useful outside work.

The reason it usually doesn't happen is the format. A traditional class is a full day, off-site, for a handful of volunteers. Managers won't release people, the registration list stalls at four names, and the plan quietly dies. Group Training removes the day: coursework is done individually online, employees book a short check-off at any location, or the CPR Go Kit comes to your office for individual check-offs between meetings.

How an on-site office visit works

Staff complete the coursework on their own schedule.

Official AHA-aligned modules, done between shifts rather than in a booked-out training day.

The CPR Go Kit stays at your facility for several days.

The automated station is available on site during the scheduled visit, with adult and infant manikins and live compression feedback.

03

Each person completes an individual 20–30 minute hands-on check-off.

They choose a time that fits their shift, complete the check-off, and then go back to work.

04

Each person receives a nationally recognized AHA eCard.

Issued individually and verifiable, with a roster of who is current and renewal reminders for what is coming due.

Setup is one conference room and one table, with no special requirements. People book a slot the way they'd book a room, and walk-ups work fine. BLS Provider covers adult, child and infant CPR, AED use and choking relief, and everyone receives an individual, nationally recognized AHA eCard valid for two years.

The format stays the same at any headcount: each employee completes an individual 20–30 minute check-off during a multi-day on-site visit sized to your team.

You don't need everyone. Certify anyone who wants it, because uptake is the whole point.

What it costs you

No lost day.

The certification is the small number. Blended learning removes the large one — a full lost day per employee.

No off-site logistics.

No travel, no room booking elsewhere, no half the team out of the building at once.

Individually issued eCards.

Nationally recognized AHA eCards with clear issue and expiration dates for every person.

Scales with headcount.

The visit length is based on headcount, with individual check-off times across several days.

A benefit that reads as care, not perk

CPR certification applies to everyone regardless of role or seniority, costs very little per person, and stays useful long after the skills check — at home, on the road, anywhere.

That is why uptake matters more than headcount targets. Make it easy enough and people volunteer, which is exactly what a traditional full-day off-site class prevents.
